We present to our tourists another interesting destination.

In one of the historical regions of France, Normandy, there is a natural complex included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites – Mont Saint Michel.

According to legend, the idea of building this castle, which has a history of about 1300 years, came from a dream. Archangel Michael visits Bishop Aubert of Avranch in a dream and instructs him to build a church on a rocky island at the mouth of the Couesnon River. The bishop did not pay attention to his words the first time, but after seeing the same dream for the second time, he started the construction. Today, the complex is one of the France’s most popular tourist attractions, with around 3.5 million annual visitors.

It is interesting that the structure of Mont Saint-Michel symbolized the ancient social hierarchy of France. God and the clergy, represented by the abbey, were above. Just below were the houses belonging to the nobles, together with the shops. At the very bottom, even outside the walls, were the houses of fishermen and peasants.
